The effectiveness of the materials, approach and analysis used by VMO have been validated through twenty five years of experience, client feedback, long term follow through with clients and regular bench marking against international and evidence based best practice. 

VMO has sustained a research project over a 20 year period collating de-identified data on indicators of board, executive and organisational success, which informs VMO’s materials, approach and analysis. Over 300 organisations have contributed to this project ranging dramatically in size and form from 50 sectors in the economy. To date the number one indicator of director success from our sample group is role clarity; as defined by the director's understanding of their duties and how to implement the functions and use the powers inherent with their position.
